Teuthis 94 was made for the FishFest game jam.
It's a simple board-gamey game in which you control 4 different
pieces on a board, each with their own properties.
I'm particularly proud of the vibe of this game. Underwater,
shiny pieces and bubbles, combined with the audio samples I used
gave it its own feel. It's the only game I've made that has this
weirdly dark atmosphere, I think.
Game design wise, idk. I'm not very proud of it. I think I
originally wanted to make it some kind of RPG or something,
with turn based combat. I eventually made it some weird chess-like.
The game isn't very intuitive, which was its main criticism.
Ranked pretty well in the jam, though.
I don't consider it my proudest work, but about a year after I
made it I heard that a friend introduced it to his brother,
who liked it. He found a tactic that allowed him to survive for
about 50 rounds, which I didn't think was possible.
Hearing random stories of people enjoying your games really
motivates you to continue making them.
